Good morning, Would-Be Cookie Eaters,
Today, in honor of the back-to-school sentiment that consistently calls me to that “New Year’s Resolution” frame of mind, I’ve made Snicker Doodles, a buttery cinnamon cookie that reminds me of the holiday season without being overtly Christmas-y.
Bright and early tomorrow morning, in hopes of heading off the need to make the drastically unrealistic News Year’s Resolutions I normally make, I intend to lace up my new sneakers and join more than 100 folks who have registered to participate in the Kalmia 5K Road Race.
The race will start and finish at Kalmia Gardens, with all proceeds supporting the Gardens, and dogs on leashes are welcome. Race-day registration costs $30 and begins at 7 a.m.
Awards will be presented beginning at 9 a.m., although I don’t think they have a category for well-intended cookie bakers who rarely get enough exercise but who want to help and always enjoy new opportunities to get to know their neighbors.
Ah… oh well, if you all will eat, walk/run and be merry today, I will too!
Come and get ’em.
P.S. Today I took a plate to the Brown House, to my own office in Drengaelen and, in what I hope will become a new tradition, to the Campus Bookstore.
