A Surprise in the Mail

Good morning, Would-Be Cookie Eaters,

Thanks to a surprise gift in the mail from Professor George Lellis, today’s cookies (decorated with the seasonally appropriate pink ribbon he used to tie up the package) are oatmeal raisin.

Last Thursday he sent me a wonderful bag of special, rolled oats (the Virginia product his mother especially loves).

As you might imagine, George’s present came as a very happy surprise for me. It made me skip.

I hope you’ll like the cookies, and even if they don’t make you skip, I hope you’ll raise a glass of cold milk in George’s honor on this happy, happy Friday.

Come and get ’em

P.S.  I would have made oatmeal raisin cookies last Friday, but that day’s selection (molasses crinkles) had already been promised.
