I rose a little earlier than usual for this morning’s baking and had hot coffee in my cup by 4:10.
Hah… top that, nearly everyone else I know.
And, while the first batch of cookies was baking, I was already cleaning up the mess. How often do you think Julia Child was fussing with the dishes during her first 8-minute baking-time space of the day? Not often, I’ll bet. Hah, Julia! You may have had cookbooks and interesting shows and fabulous pearls, but I today I might be just a tad bit neater than you normally were.
And, although the recipe is called Double Chocolate (because it has both cocoa and chocolate chips), adding some milk chocolate drizzle has to represent a worthy “tweak-of-improvement.”
I’d insert a smiley-face here, but this is a blog, not a drawing. (Calm yourself, Queen Barbie.)
But, wait! I still have a half-bag of white chocolate. Neat!! Doubling double, why not drizzle on the drizzle? Oh, this is fun. Who else will have made double-double chocolate but me this morning?
Man, I love Fridays! Competition and caffeine and chocolate all before dawn. This little gal is one-upping even the sun, for crying out loud.
Wish there was a word for that. One-upmanship doesn’t have a red underline to tell me it is misspelled, and I don’t feel like Googling it, and I haven’t got the foggiest idea where I stuck the dictionary. But, I’ve got to say, I’m not sure I like the word anyway. I don’t really feel like writing about doing better than just my fellow men. Women are people, too.
Nah. Shoot. That’s not right. But it’ll have to do. It’s getting late, and I need to get ready for work, and I haven’t taken the picture yet. And, darn it, I forgot my good camera. It’s at the office.
Julia had cameramen, (and I’m sure they were men, too), not a camera stuck in a drawer. Hmmm…dang.
Come and get ’em!
