This month I’ve written more words than in any month I’ve experienced in quite a long time. I mean it. Boy, I’ve been busy! But it’s also been tons of fun. Since I was a little kid, I’ve always thought it was fun to top a top. Even so, it would be quite a challenge to have to double this month’s count any time soon.
Exactly 200 years ago today, former President Thomas Jefferson more than doubled the size of the Library of Congress. For the price of $23,950, he sold his personal library — 6,487 volumes — to the government to replace the 3,000 volume collection of the Library of Congress, which had been burned during the War of 1812.
To celebrate, I’ve made two favorites (of mine, anyway): Chocolate chip (with white chocolate) and Molasses Crinkles (with white chocolate, too).
Come and get ’em!
