Goodness, I’m glad to work at an ideally sized college in a community known for charm and class. It helps, too, that creativity here flows like an easy wide river right through the middle of everything.
But for these generous traits, this morning’s offering (and, sadly, this baker) would likely be cast as an under-performer.
The Taste of Home folks classified the cookie as cover-worthy for their book of “623 Irresistible Delights.” In fact, the audacious title added insult to injury by completing the title with an exclamation point.
Of the book’s 623 fine recipes, only 10 or so (it’s hard to count the images in on the cover’s center photo) were given front-page status.
Unfortunately, my version of Fudge-filled Sandies give the outward impression of an experiment that ought to merit a footnote warning (of the don’t-try-this-at-home variety) in a lock-and-key Dora the Explorer diary.
Even so, the ingredients are certainly top-10 worthy: butter, confectionary sugar, pecans and chocolate. And I did not burn the cookies. But they look ridiculous. How embarrassing.
Luckily, given the special characteristics of the members of our community, I expect you’ll adopt the “let’s try it” attitude that inspired me to give the recipe a whirl. Hope so.
Come and get ’em!
