Back at it, because I love it.

Happy Friday, all.

It’s been too long! Way too long. I’ve made cookies on many Fridays since my last post. But, I’ve not made them every Friday, and it’s been six months since my last post.

I’ve told myself that the cookies don’t really matter and that I haven’t minded letting the blog go. I’m super busy — no doubt about that — but I do miss it. I miss it dearly.

Cookies surely do not matter much in the big scheme of things (whatever that is), and in January many may be trying to avoid sweets as best they can. But friendships and connections mean the world to me. On top of that, writing and baking are two of my favorite activities.

This week, while I was flying back home from Pennsylvania, where I spent time with my family for Christmas, Jean Grosser sent me a link to Everyday Dorie’s blog and, specifically, to a sweetness revolution Dorie is leading that she’s named #cookiesandkindness. Here’s a summary.

So, long story shorter, I’m restarting my Friday Cookie habit. Today’s cookies are at Hartsville’s City Hall (@doriegreenspan will be happy to know that it was a surprise for the staff there) and at Startsville, where I’m spending the day. We have a wonderful public exhibition of art works by GSSM art students here, which is continuing through January 21.

If you’re in town, I hope you’ll stop by. The cookies are oatmeal raisin. I just added the white chocolate pretzels to make the plate look prettier. I’m happy to report that the first person who stopped by Startsville for a cookie returned a few minutes later.

“I’m sorry ma’am,” he said. “I’m back.”  He took another cookie and made my day!

I’m back too.

Happy Friday.
Come and get ’em!
